TabBroom privacy policy

What TabBroom does

TabBroom helps you close open tabs that match a domain list you maintain. You can also choose to include empty and new tabs. Pinned and active tabs are kept open.

Tab information processed in your browser

When you open the popup or use its close action, TabBroom requests information about open tabs from your browser. This includes tab URLs, available tab titles, and whether tabs are pinned or active. TabBroom uses URLs and tab status to identify eligible tabs and display counts. It does not use titles for matching, save URLs or titles, keep a browsing-history log, or read the contents of web pages.

All of this processing happens locally in your browser. TabBroom does not collect tab information for the developer or send it to anyone.

Settings stored on your device

TabBroom stores your domain list and your preferences for including subdomains and closing empty/new tabs in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). It does not use Chrome's synchronized extension storage.

You can change or clear the domain list and preferences in Settings and save them. Removing the extension removes its local extension storage from that browser profile. Tab information is used only during cleanup and is not retained by TabBroom.

No transmission, sharing, or analytics

TabBroom sends no tab information, settings, or other user data to servers, the developer, or third parties. It has no analytics, tracking, advertising, telemetry, or remote service, and requires no account. It does not sell user data or use it for unrelated purposes, creditworthiness assessments, or lending.

Permissions

The tabs permission lets TabBroom access tab URLs for matching. TabBroom checks tab status and closes eligible tabs only when you click the close button. The storage permission lets it save and read your local settings. It requests no website host permissions.
